Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday directed officials to strengthen foodgrain storage infrastructure across the state to prevent any post-harvest losses and ensure safe storage of agricultural produce.

Chairing a review meeting at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister asked departments concerned to prepare a comprehensive action plan for building a silo between Shahabad and Ambala. He emphasized that the project should offer a long-term solution to storage challenges and ensure efficient handling of foodgrains.

Saini instructed officials to identify suitable land up to 100 acres between the railway line and road in the Shahabad–Ambala corridor. He said the location should be chosen in a way that enables cost-effective rail and road connectivity for smooth transportation of grains across the country. He also set a one-month deadline for completing planning related to land acquisition and construction.

The meeting, also attended by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, reviewed grain storage capacity and water supply arrangements in Palwal and Nuh regions.

Highlighting emerging export opportunities, the Chief Minister noted rising demand for fruits and vegetables in the Middle East due to ongoing regional developments. He directed the Haryana Warehousing Corporation to prepare a proposal for setting up a large storage facility or silo near Hisar Airport to support safe storage and export of perishable agricultural produce.
