The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday carried out searches at several business entities linked to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal in Punjab as part of an investigation under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), officials said.

Mittal, a 61-year-old businessman and educationist who heads the Lovely Group, which includes a university of the same name, was recently appointed as the deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Raghav Chadha.

According to officials, the raids are being conducted at multiple locations connected to Mittal in Jalandhar and Phagwara, along with a few other places.
