New Delhi, December 26
President Droupadi Murmu on Friday conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on 20 children for their outstanding achievements in Bravery, Social Service, Environment, Sports, Art & Culture, and Science & Technology at a ceremony in New Delhi.
Speaking on the significance of Veer Bal Diwas, observed on December 26, the President recalled the supreme sacrifices made about 320 years ago by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his four sons while standing for truth and justice. She said the courage of the two youngest Sahibzadas — Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh — continues to be honoured in India and abroad.
Ten-year-old Shravan Singh was specially recognised for his selfless service during Operation Sindoor. Despite the risks associated with the tense border situation near his home, Shravan regularly supplied water, milk and lassi to Indian soldiers, showing courage, compassion and a strong sense of duty at a very young age.
Highlighting young achievers, the President said that talents like seven-year-old Vaka Lakshmi Pragnika are helping India emerge as a global chess powerhouse. She also praised Ajay Raj and Mohammed Sidan P for their life-saving acts marked by bravery and presence of mind.
Remembering supreme courage, she noted that nine-year-old Vyoma Priya and 11-year-old Kamlesh Kumar lost their lives while saving others. She also cited the example of ten-year-old Shravan Singh, who, despite the risks during Operation Sindoor, regularly supplied water, milk and lassi to Indian soldiers posted near his border village.
