Amritsar, May 30
In line with Punjab Police’s commitment to technology-driven policing, Amritsar has become the fourth city in the state to implement the automated e-Challan system, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced during his visit to the holy city on Saturday.
With this initiative, Amritsar joins SAS Nagar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana in adopting automated traffic enforcement.
“The e-Challan system aims to promote greater transparency, efficient traffic enforcement and improved road safety across the city,” said the DGP.
During the visit, DGP Gaurav Yadav also inaugurated the newly established building of Police Station Mohkampura, developed under the Smart City Project. The new facility has been designed to provide improved amenities for police personnel and ensure better accessibility and services for citizens.
Describing it as another significant step towards strengthening policing infrastructure, the DGP said the project would help improve public service delivery for residents of Amritsar.
Accompanied by Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Deputy Inspector General of Police Sandeep Goel, the DGP also chaired a comprehensive law and order review meeting to assess emerging crime trends and strengthen preventive policing strategies.
“Our focus remains on enhancing public safety and security by proactively upgrading policing infrastructure and embracing technological advancements,” he said.
To further strengthen camaraderie and esprit de corps within the force, the DGP joined officers and personnel of all ranks at a ‘Bada Khana’, sharing a meal and interacting extensively with them.
The gathering was attended by representatives of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, BSF, judiciary and civil administration, including the District and Sessions Judge, Deputy Commissioner, Deputy General Officer Commanding, and senior officers from the Air Force and BSF.
During the event, the DGP listened to the experiences and feedback of police personnel and acknowledged their dedication, sacrifices and commitment to duty.
Urging the force to continue serving with professionalism, integrity and courage, he assured them of the Punjab Police leadership’s unwavering support towards their welfare and that of their families.
The DGP also honoured police personnel with DGP Commendation Discs, certificates and cash rewards in recognition of their exemplary service, dedication and professionalism in the line of duty.
